REVIEW: The Moto X by Google

In August 2013 Google released the 'Moto X' its first phone under Motorola. The new smart phone caused a stir and it was warmly welcomed into the market. There is no doubt the Moto X is meant to showcase Google's vision for the newly acquired Motorola and the andriod device.

Features of the Moto X

Display: 4.7 inches screen, 16 colors, multitouch and 720 x1280 pixles.

CPU: Dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait

Memory: 16/32 GB, 2 GB RAM

Battery: Li-Ion 2200 mAh battery (Up to 576 h standby and Up to 13 h)

Pros of the Moto X

  • The design is superb and fits & feels right in your hands just as Google said.
  • The performance is excellent.
  • The enhancements are useful making it a top competitor.

Cons of the Moto X

  • Poor camera. Compared to competitors like the HTC One, Moto X has a disappointing camera. We actually thought the camera feature of the Moto X was going to be a Bomb. :(
  • Lacks an expandable storage.
  • The battery life is average at 13 hours talk and a stand-by of 576 hours.

In general Moto X's design is thoughtful both In and Out. What makes the Moto X different is that in the United states Motorola launched 'Moto Maker' a feature that allows you to customise the appearance of your phone.

Pros of the HTC One

  • Great display unit. (1080p screen)
  • The camera performance is execellent and picture out put is great.
Cons of the HTC One

How to Use Your Digital Camera as a Webcam

You must have looked at the title and wondered, 'how to use your digital camera as a webcam?' Today social sites have become a part of many people’s lives to get in touch with distant relatives and friends. Because of this, webcams have become important as they make communication more real and personal.  Even though all the new laptop models now come with in-built webcams, many people still use the old laptops. So, if your laptop doesn’t have a webcam or you have a desktop and a digital camera, we are going to change it into a webcam.

How to Choose a Data Plan

Sometimes choosing the perfect data plan can tend to become confusing more so if you are just a starter. Data Plans always come in different packages – That definitely is to cater for the different user levels. There is always the unlimited package which comes with no restrictions on how much data you can use in a particular time; then there are the limited packages where you are given a specific amount of data to exhaust in a specific period of time. Limited packages are normally cut in to various data amounts and periods so that makes the charges vary accordingly. The question is now how to make that perfect choice.

Sony’s PS4 Coming soon

Just last week, Sony unveiled the PS4 but during the event Sony never displayed the console nor did they mention anything about the dimensions. They said the PlayStation 4 is more powerful (that is what everybody expects…). However, the PlayStation 4 will not play PS3 discs. For the enthusiasts there must be a lot of questions unanswered –like why on earth could they not make PS3 discs play on the PS4 while the PS3 could play PS2 discs.

According to TechNewsWorld, the managing director of equity research at Webdush Securities Michael Pachter said, the system will be easier to develop since it is built on a PC chipset. “Easier means lower cost, and lower cost presumably means more content,” Pachter added.

Well… looks like this is the best thing to happen to smaller developers –as this new system uses the x86 platform. The sweet thing about the x86 platform is that anyone can get lots of program codes from the Open Source Linux world. said Enderle. "They could also do drivers for some of the hardware, but it sounds like they may have decided not to in order to increase accessory revenue and avoid reliability problems." Said Rob Enderle (Principal analyst at Enderle Group).

By the way the Seniors talk, you can tell that the PS4 is not coming out as soon as you expected(atleast not me). But... predictions are that we may not  set our eyes on the first console until June in the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).

"We still don't have enough info on specs and features to say what people will pay," said Pachter. "I would guess (US)$399 is the right price point." However, we think the PS4 may cost pretty much more than that.

What do you guys think about this? Do you think Sony took the right move to tell us something that will come in just 4 months? Enderle thinks Sony should have waited for the E3. What do you think?

How to Choose a Laptop That Suits Your Needs

Laptops for sale

There are hundreds of laptops for sale both online and in local stores, identifying one that will serve your needs flawlessly can be a tough task. Most of us pay for laptops that are not destined for the tasks that we intend to perform. It is never about the brand color or make but what the laptop has to offer in terms of performance.
As you look for a laptop for sale, you will need to keep some things in mind. For example; what are you going to do with the laptop? Once you have got that right, your search will be easier. Do you do web and graphic designing and need a laptop to work? Do you just need a laptop to play games? Or just for twitting and facebooking? Having all these answers at your finger tips will help you better in identifying the right specifications. And once you have that, you avoid over spending and purchasing a laptop that doesn’t suit your activities at all.
You also need to consider your working station. Yes!... portability is the biggest advantage of laptops, most people buy laptops because they need to move with it back and forth  but wherever you are going what is the condition there? Is there a power source where you are going? Some people use laptops on the go. If that is the case with you, then you will need to look at the battery life. …you better consider the battery life issue seriously. Make sure you do your research as laptops for sale have different battery lives.
In most cases we forget and buy laptops that really don’t support the lifestyle we intend to offer them. Sometimes it is because we are working on a low budget; in that case, it is wise for one to go for second hand laptops but remember, you may go without a warranty.
