How to Make Your Compact Camera Live Longer

Compact cameras are now everywhere and used by everyone. Thanks to the innovativeness of manufacturers, they come in different colors, sizes and designs that make it possible for anyone regardless of age and lifestyle to find something that suits them. Newer versions of compact cameras still continue to invade the market and there is no doubt that smaller and more sophisticated gadgets are yet to come. The question is ‘how to make your compact camera live longer?'

There are a few things that you could take note of and make your compact camera stay sparkling for little longer than you can imagine.

Buy a camera bag: Before anything, always make sure you get your compact camera a bag. Though there are some cameras that come with their bags, there is still a larger number that come in boxes so you’ll have to purchase a bag. A camera bag provides protection against three things. –First, it safe guards the camera from dust. As you may know; dust causes scratches and you wouldn’t like scratches on your lovely camera. –Secondly, it protects the camera from water since these camera bags are water proof. –Lastly, the bags protect the camera from shock. Camera bags are made in such a way that they are shock proof. When it drops down, the cushion guards the camera even from heights that you can’t imagine.

Use straps: Straps help to save the gadget from dropping. Neck and waist straps are readily available in the market. Choosing between a neck and waist strap largely depends on your choice and size of the camera. My choice is usually neck straps since compact cameras are light and small. It also gives me easy access to the camera. You can get these neck straps from any camera shop and even phone shops.

Stay away from dust: Try as much as possible not to use your camera in dusty conditions because dust can lead to scratches on both your camera body and the lens. When a camera or even any gadget gets scratches, it loses its beauty hence value. You must be asking yourself ‘how about taking pics at the beach?’ Well… since there is that dust coming from the sand, you need to be little careful. In such a case, the best thing to do is to only remove the camera from the camera bag when you are going to shoot photos. If the place is too dusty, you may need to first wrap the camera with a cloth before zipping it up in the bag.

Check batteries regularly: If your compact camera uses rechargeable batteries then consider yourself safe and you don’t need to mind about this point but if your compact camera uses unrechargeable batteries, you may need to regularly check them just to know that they are in good shape. Compact cameras are delicate and when a battery leaks in them, you are in serious problems. –Some advice, if you have not yet purchased or planning to purchase another camera, then make it a point to go for a camera that has rechargeable batteries though you may be working on a higher budget.

Blow the camera instead of wiping: This is a mistake done by everyone. Whenever your compact camera is dirty and needs some cleaning, don’t just get a piece of cloth and start wiping –lots of people do that. Once you do that; you end up scratching your gadget because the dust normally contains tiny stone particles that while you wipe, will be squeezed to the camera surface hence causing scratches. The best way is to blow it with a blowing machine. It may not necessarily need to be an electronics blowing machine; a hair blower can do the job perfectly well.

It is really easy to take care of your compact camera if you really care about it. Just avoid things that can make it loose value. Once you do all that, you camera’s life span will be greatly increased.
