Good Samaritan Who Saved Young Girl Dies From Injuries


The 43-year-old father from Georgia (Mike Patterson), who was paralyzed when he dove into a a narrow, sheltered water way to save a young girl earlier this month, died early Friday morning as a result of the injuries sustained.

Mike Patterson injured his spinal cord when he dove in to the Euharlee Creek in Rockmart, on June 8th to save a 4-year-old young girl who was drowning. He was with his 9-year-old son and heard the girl screaming in the creek, when Good Samaritan dove in to save 4 year old, he hit the bottom and hurt his spinal cord. He was still able to save the young girl despite suffering paralysis in both of his legs.

In addition to his severed spinal-cord, he also battled pneumonia, respiratory acidosis, a blood clot while in intensive care for over 20 days at a hospital in Rome and a bacterial infection.

Mike Patterson made a big sacrifice to save a life. He will always be remembered as a hero. May his soul rest in peace.
